Cape Town, South Africa, is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.
With it's larger-than-life Table Mountain overlooking the City Bowl, the harbour , white beaches, wineries, shopping , delicious food and more, this is a tourists' playground.
My first stop when I arrive in Cpt is Woolworths Foods for a honey-nut latte. Woolworths is known as 'Woolies' to most Saffas ( South Africans ) It is like Trader Joes in the USA on steroids, filled with delicious food, clothes and home goods. A shop you should definitely visit and make sure you take an empty suitcase because I guarantee you will buy loads .
Cape Town has a lot to offer , here are some things to do , a few of my favorite places.
1) V & A Waterfront
A firm favorite for local and international visitors. It is the oldest working harbour in South Africa with the iconic Table Mountain as the backdrop. It is a perfect place to meet friends for a coffee , a meal and some shopping.
I love The Watershed at the V & A. It is a beautiful, vibrant space where you can buy local ceramics, textiles, furniture, fashion and jewellery. Many of the traders sell unique products and arts and crafts. Exhibitions, live entertainment and workshops are also hosted here.
After some shopping ,we hopped on a catamaran for a cruise . I would say that some of the best views of the city itself can be seen from the ocean .
There's nothing like some fresh sea air to make you ravenous and the V & A is a real foodies paradise. It has plenty of restaurants you can choose to eat at ,with gorgeous views. I would also say that it has some of the best sea food I have ever tasted on all my travels around the world. We ate fish and Chips at Den Anker
2 ) Franschoek
Franschhoek is a town in South Africa’s Western Cape with centuries-old vineyards and Cape Dutch architecture with majestic mountain scenery, lush vineyards and a quaint European feel. If you love wine, you could stay here for days on end! I am not a big wine drinker but always up for a glass of bubbles and I love the views , food and shopping !
What amazes me about Cape Town is that you can be in the bustling city on one day and then in this quaint picturesque little town the next day, only a short drive out of the City.
These photos were taken at Haute Cabriere where we had some delicious bubbles and breakfast .
3) Hermanus
Hermanus is a town on the southern coast of the Western Cape province. It is
the mating and breeding grounds of the southern Right Whale during the winter and spring months (from June to November). I was desperate to view the whales so we booked an Airbnb 15 minutes drive away from Hermanus . Our Airbnb had the most exquisite views of the Babilongstoring mountains. The farm home is stunning; totally off the grid, with a farm house kitchen fully equipped with exceptional views and plenty fresh mountain water to drink.
We drove into Hermanus for the day and had the pleasure of watching whales, eating fresh fish' yet again and of course we fitted in some shopping time. I found gift shops that sell my favorite high end home decor and kitchen things ; Carrol Boyes
Cape Town is an absolute paradise , I hope I have persuaded you to visit soon.
I have so much more to share on this beautiful City but in the meantime here is a great read
